RYAN JOHNSON
BACKGROUND
Ryan began his appraisal career in 2010 as a real estate appraiser trainee covering cities and towns in Western Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut. He was eager to learn and with a background in construction, he was able to use his knowledge of residential and commercial building construction to smoothly transition into the world of real estate appraisal. Ryan was fortunate to train with a highly reputable family-based residential real estate appraisal firm that instilled in him a strong focus on ethics, integrity and attention to detail. After completing all necessary education, experience hours and passing the examination, Ryan became a Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser in 2012.
In late 2013 Ryan was presented with an opportunity to work with the Massachusetts Division of Local Services Bureau of Local Assessment providing mass appraisal and municipal finance guidance and oversight to approximately thirty-five assigned communities in Western Massachusetts. Here, Ryan was able to expand upon his knowledge in fee appraisal where an appraiser typically focuses extensively on valuing one property at a time, to mass appraisal where the appraiser values a universe of properties as of a given date using standardized methodologies.
In 2021, Ryan decided to further advance his appraisal career and pursue an appraisal license upgrade to Certified General. He began training with two highly qualified commercial real estate appraisers and gained exposure to a diverse set of commercial and industrial property valuation assignments. Ryan passed the Certified General Examination in December of 2023 and is now offering commercial appraisal services in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
